SUMMARY

As Binki the clown likes to say, "Heeeeeeeeey CAT!" Yes, the cat we are talking about is Garfield, created by renowned author Jim Davis.

Perhaps one of Garfield's most beloved television specials was "A Garfield Christmas," initially aired in the late 1980s.

In that holiday special, Odie built a back scratcher with some wood scraps, a gardening tool, ornament, and some string, and gave it to Garfield as a present.

So for the 2018 holidays, I decided to pay homage to the iconic flick and 3D modeled Garfield in his house, with Odie's famous back scratcher, and in an Elf costume!

The 3D modeling project, mainly done in Maya, had a variety of steps which included sculpting in ZBrush, UV mapping and texture creation, camera and shot setup, look development, lighting setup, rendering, and a final composite to cap off the project.

Even though this was not a direct recreation of a scene from any of his shows or films, the most critical aspect of this project was to create a convincing story that fit into his previous stories, while using a 3D medium.
